• electronic components and wiring should not fail during a bumpy ride
• the vehicle must be safe for the driver and other participants in traffic
• clocks in all the recording equipment must be synchronized
• aquired data and media should be transmitted from the vehicle wirelessly
• found open access points could be used to upload and download data and media
• all necessary software and must be available under a free or open-source license
• recharging should be possible using a single power mains cable
• should provide storage for chalk sticks and sponge in a practical container

the V. in the name is also the roman numeral 5, hinting that it will probably take 5 attempts to build a FRIDA vehicle that satisfies all the set goals optimally. the name is also an obscure reference to Eda V. - a successful airplane built by slovenian flight pioneers Rusjan brothers in 1910.
